- This archive contains files that were and are being
- used by pupils taking part in the Southease Domesday
- Project.
-
- 1086a - created by pupils using !Topographer.
- A 'map' of the area in 1086 (don't pay too
- much attention to the accuracy of the
- contour lines !).
-
- 1086b - as above, but Southease.
-
- 1995 - !Topographer 'map' of the present valley.
- Again, it gives an impression of the area,
- rather than being a 100% accurate map.
-
- AMBSE - screen from one of the database programmes
- that pupils can use to enter information
- from the Domesday survey.
- This was and is an extremely 'difficult'
- exercise.
- Finding a simple, cheap database is a
- problem.
- Deciding what information to include in the
- database is a problem.
-
- CHRCH
- BAY
- BAY1
- BAY2 - Scenes from the Bayeux Tapestry.
- One of the source we looked at, trying
- to decide how useful it was in giving
- an impression of buildings and dress.
-
-
- CHRCH1 - the nave of Southease Church.
-
- CHRCH2 - a stained glass window from the church.
-
- GRPH - screen from Domesday graph.
- This is a shareware graph programme.
- Unfortunately, it is not too accurate in this
- case. Rodmell has 1 slave - this does not
- appear on the graph, although it was entered.
-
- NPAD - another screen from a shareware programme
- that was used by pupils to keep notes on
- screen as they worked on the project.
-
- pbase - another database programme we considered
- using.
-
- VLS
- VLS1 - two examples of primary sources that could be
- used by pupils in their guide to Domesday
- Southease.
-
- sease - textfile with information from the
- 'official' church guide.
-
- Doomsday - text file. Extracts from the
- Domesday survey relating to the Ouse
- Valley.
-
- Ashley - notes made by Ashley on the Psion when the
- group visited Southease.
-
- Z88 - notes made on the Z88 during the field-study
- visit to Southease.
-
- info - general notes on the project.
